In the journey of my life, marked by profound experiences and deep connections to hallowed grounds, each chapter has marked a profound leap into the unknown, with the echoes of history and the spirit of sacred places playing a pivotal role. my path has been one of deep introspection and bold decisions.
There remains an anticipation for another pivotal chapter yet to unfold: my first visit to Israel. Just as Harvard Yard, Arlington Cemetery, and the fields of Gettysburg have imbued me with a sense of history and purpose, I am certain that setting foot in Israel will be a moment of unparalleled significance.
From the reflective calm of Harvard Yard to the expansive skies, my path has been one of deep introspection and bold decisions. Harvard Yard, with its whispers of history echoing great minds and world changers, offered solace and inspiration. In that serene setting, I contemplated the footsteps of those who had shaped our world, feeling the wisdom in the air. This reflection continued in the sky, on a transformative flight. Gazing down at the world below, I made a “Tudo ou Nada” decision, from that high vantage point, a humbling realization dawned on me: the enormity of the world and the endless possibilities it held. It was there, high above the clouds, where I embraced a “Tudo ou Nada” moment – “ALL IN” in Poker. Sold what it was left and dropped out of Law School in such a way that would be no way back.
It was a moment of burning my ships, embracing a journey filled with potential but also uncertainty. I went “All In” — a point of no return, much like the Conquistadors who ventured into the unknown American continent with unwavering resolve.
My connection to hallowed grounds deepened. In Arlington Cemetery, among the solemn rows of white headstones, I felt the tangible presence of sacrifice and the weight of history. While living in Washington D.C. and working at the Organization of American States, I would visit to gain perspective, and at each visit there was a poignant reminder of freedom's cost and our collective responsibilities.
The fields of Gettysburg, PA, steeped in the echoes of one of the most impactful political speeches in world history, left a profound mark on me. There, President Lincoln delivered a brief, yet profound speech resonated with the sentiments of a nation in turmoil, like the moments we all are living now, so I understood the transformative power of words and the lasting impact of pivotal moments in history.
Anticipating my first visit to Israel, a land sacred to Jews, Arabs, and Christians, I see it as an extension of these experiences. I expect it to be another significant chapter, where the sacredness of the land and its rich tapestry of world history, our common history of doubts and faith will offer new insights and deepen my understanding of our world.
Growing up in Brazil, where the conflicts abroad and in the past were so farfetched, seasoned with my world experience, especially in these places — Harvard Yard, Arlington Cemetery, Gettysburg, and soon, Israel — have profoundly shaped my worldview. They instill a sense of humility and purpose, underscoring that in life's grand narrative, moments of contemplation and decisive actions intertwine, forging a path uniquely ours.
Join me on this journey, where the whispers of history and the uncharted paths of the future converge. Each step is a testament to the courage to explore and the wisdom to learn from the past, as we embrace a future where diverse narratives of America, Israel, and Brazil interweave, shaping a more inclusive, understanding, and connected world.
